We are a community of students whose goal is to learn about and take care of the land and waters we live and play in.
Our work is grounded in four primary pillars:
1. Hands-on Restoration – Hosting weekly work parties across Sehome Hill Arboretum and the WWU campus, providing tools, guidance, and food.
2. Education & Professional Connection – Inviting guest speakers to connect students with practitioners in ecological restoration and related fields.
3. Community Engagement – Organizing and facilitating quarterly events that bring together students, local organizations, and community members in meaningful connection with the natural environment.
4. Collaboration & Partnership – Working alongside other clubs and organizations, recognizing that strong partnerships are essential to impactful restoration and fostering relationships between people and the more-than-human world.
Our main project as a club is currently the restoration of Sehome Arboretum, a park next to WWU campus, specifically focused on removal of non-native plant species, and planting of native plant species. We host weekly work parties for students to participate and make a difference. JOIN US
We frequently participate in work parties hosted by other local organizations like Whatcom Land Trust, NSEA, the City of Bellingham, and others. Being part of the community at large means club members meet others in the community who share similar passions, thus creating new connections.
An ongoing bi-weekly speaker series hosted by the club on WWU Campus. We invite professionals in restoration and land stewardship to share their knowledge and lessons they have learned. JOIN US
We aspire to work with neighborhood stewardship groups around Bellingham to build community and establish a repertoire with those who can support the club. This work also enables students to help make Bellingham Neighborhoods a more welcoming place to native fauna and insects.
A great TEDX speech about making conversation with people!
